Established in 1890, Dieringer School District consolidated with Lake Tapps School District in 1936 and is currently the most rapidly growing district in the Pierce-King County region. The majority of the District is located in unincorporated Pierce County, bound on the east by the White River, on the west by the Stuck River, on the north by the city of Auburn, and on the south by the cities of Bonney Lake and Sumner. The District surrounds the northern two-thirds of Lake Tapps and covers approximately 5.5 square miles. The District is composed of three schools: Lake Tapps Elementary, Dieringer Heights Elementary and North Tapps Middle School. These schools serve preschool through eighth grade students and also serve as hubs for community activities. The Dieringer community is incredibly supportive of the District and generous with gifts of time, resources and financial support.

Our students come to school well-prepared and eager to learn. The LTES PTA and parent volunteers help provide a rich program for our students and incredible support for our staff. Lake Tapps Elementary School serves approximately 480 students, grades one through three in a facility that opened in the fall of 2005. The building replaced a previous structure which had been on this site since the 1960s. Lake Tapps Elementary School was honored in 2014 as an Exemplary School in the category of “overall excellence” due to its ranking in the top 5% of schools in the state. Staff members provide an outstanding academic program that blends basic skills instruction in the core areas of reading, math, language, and science with offerings including music/art, physical education/health, and a Title I program which supports reading and math. LTES students excel on local and state tests and consistently Lake Tapps is one of the highest performing schools in the state.

Teachers at Lake Tapps Elementary School work collaboratively and participate in school-wide climate programs for students. An Academic Collaboration and Enhancement (ACE) calendar was developed in 2005. Each Friday students are dismissed two hours early to allow staff members time for professional development, team and grade level planning, as well as parent conferences and communication. Parents find the ACE enrichment activities, which include opportunities such as drama, chess, dance, and karate to be beneficial to students. Parents also provide positive feedback for our ACE program.

Lake Tapps Elementary School is an exceptional school that strives to meet the needs of all who enter its doors. In addition to a special education resource room, the building also houses a structured learning center which serves students with more intense needs. This specially designed program provides students the opportunity to enjoy educational success while also being included with their peers in the classroom activities and events that make elementary school fun.
